Answer to previous riddle: A splinter.

Explanation: The guy got the splinter from going in the woods, he sat down to find it but couldn't so he went home, with the splinter still there.

Riddle: I am mother and father, but never birth or nurse. I'm rarely still, but I never wander. What am I?

A tree. Gives birth to fruit and The leaves are swaying in the wind, but a tree can't travel.
At least that's what I think, because my friend just told me the answer a few weeks ago... Anyway, My riddle!

Answer: Any hermaphroditic organism in the kingdom of Animilia such as an earthworm that is trapped in an isolated confined containter such that it is allowed to survive and forced to lay eggs would work. Laying eggs is not considered to be a part of the definition of the word "birth".

Other answers include all angiosperms that produce both types of gametes along with any other organism in the kingdom of Plantae who produce both male and female gametes.

Also, seeds would technically be what you are thinking of.

I'm here just to be a boring person and add alternate answers.

A woman shoots her husband.
Then she holds him under water for over 5 minutes.
Finally, she hangs him.
But 5 minutes later they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together.
How can this be?

Answer: The woman is a photographer and was taking a picture of her husband.

Explanation: The woman shot the picture of her husband, put the picture in the water to develop it, and then hung it. (to dry/on the wall - either works for the riddle I guess)

Riddle: How will you behead sixty eight and leave eighteen? (a.k.a how do you get 18 from 68?)

[Oh, and the answer to my previous riddle was indeed "A tree."]

Most riddles are flawed in the way that they do not account for multiple answers that work.

Count 52 and cut their heads off. No explanation required.

[Hmm, I don't quite understand your answer to my riddle. Do you mind explaining? It is not the answer that I know and I don't see how your answer works...?]

[Hint: There isn't any beheading actually going on, my riddle is asking what do you cut from 68 to get 18?]

Answer: 50

Explanation: 50 + 18 = 60

Widm's comment: Although that's technically correct, more specifically, it probably refers to Roman numerals. LXVIII and XVIII respectively. Removing the "head" or the beginning removes the "L" or fifty from the number leaving eighteen.

My Riddle:
Of all the things that are broken,
this makes the least noise
and is always done on purpose.

A promise.
You can break a promise, it makes no noise, and it is done on purpose (usually).

If you put a curve in a 1 dimensional line, it becomes 2 dimensional. If you put a curve (concave/convex) in a plane, it becomes 3 dimensional. So isn't a cube with a curve in it 4 dimensional?

(NO, the 4th dimension is NOT time. Also, Euclidean geometry will inevitable fail in the 4th dimension, so you cannot rely on that either.))

Correction -

Of all the things that are broken,
this makes the least noise
and is always done on purpose.

The answer is bread, M217. Not a promise.

(Bread doesn't make any sense. If anything it would have to be a promise. The answer can't be bread.)

(EDIT: I looked it up and it is bread. Seems like a bad answer to me, but I guess it's right.)

It is bread because you tear it in half, or cut it with a knife; and it does not make noise. And you always do it on purpose.

Sort of?  Maybe?  It makes about as much sense as a promise.  Either could be broken by purpose, and bread could be broken loudly.

[Widm, your explanation was the one I was looking for for my riddle, my question was indeed referring to roman numerals, although James' explanation works as well technically. Great job you two! Also, to comment on James' riddle, I see how it is 'bread' and potentially 'promise', but I also see how they can both go against the circumstances of the riddle.]

M217's riddle (the latest one):

(NO, the 4th dimension is NOT time. Also, Euclidean geometry will inevitable fail in the 4th dimension, so you cannot rely on that either.))

Time is a fourth dimension in a 3-dimensional space, but in the context of this riddle, it isn't necessarily the fourth dimension.

I think that the answer is "yes"--the ends of the curve both exist in 4-dimensional space, and all the pieces in between do as well, but they exist in different 3-dimensional spaces, so the resulting figure is 4-dimensional.

Here's mine:

"A man walks into a store and notices two products. One is labeled Gold Edition, the other is labeled Silver Edition. He walks up to the cashier.

'HellocanItakeyourorder?' the cashier says, disinterested.
'How much does that Gold Edition cost?'
'Ahundreddollars.'
'Oh. Is the price for the Silver Edition any lower?'
'Fiftypercent.'
'I see.'

The man places a dollar on the counter and walks out with five thousand Silver Editions. Why?"

Yes. If Anne is unmarried, she is looking at Jules, so the answer is yes. If Anne is married, then Jake is looking at her, so the answer is still yes.

What is the largest number of pieces of chicken you cannot order from this restaurant?
