I believe that the number of bad reviews and comments on Gamestar Mechanic are rising. Please help raise awareness! Make sure to check out my game "Concerning Bad Reviews" to know all about it.

Also, there are many things to be said concerning bad comments and reviews. I think to get this subject going I'll just ask a simple question. What exactly defines a bad comment/review?

I think the following rules of etiquette are reasonable:

-No reviews or comments should personally insult designers, and none should use completely derogatory language (i.e. "you're a bad designer" or "your games suck.")
-Reviews should have some explanation, particularly for bad reviews.
-If the game isn't meant for playing, but is instead an announcement of some sort, it really shouldn't be reviewed except for the content inside.

Yes I agree! I keep getting all these 1 star reviews and innapropriate comments! So annoying! I was on top rated and then those people insult me and get me off that section!! :(

Top-rated is not a manual process. Games are automatically featured in top-rated when they hit a certain amount of stars and gears. It's a simple bot function. Gamestar Mechanic doesn't put or take things down there. So, the people who leave bad comments and reviews have nothing to do with your games leaving top-rated. The games in top-rated probably automatically go away after a certain amount of time because of a bot function (and clutter). If not that, they get buried behind millions of other games.

Top-rated is essentially overrated.

Since top-rated is a bot function, it is very easy to get in top-rated, and even easier to get your games buried by a bunch of games that don't deserve to be in top-rated. All mechanics have to do to get in top-rated is give their own games a 5-5. So, top-rated has lost its value completely.

Top Rated = 10 5 star reviews before any under 5 reviews, reviews on a game expire in the top rated thingy after a while (a day I think) so Top Rated can be influenced, but it doesn't mean nothing.
