Long ago, the Earth was ruled by one monarchy that watched over all others. No one dared to oppose the mighty king, as he had a powerful weapon. Far above, up in the Thermosphere, the Machina watched over us. It was an orbital weapon of immense power. Through its scope, the King could see all. Anyone who foolishly plotted against him was immediately terminated and made an example of. A burst of violent energy would release from the Machina, and the potential rebel would be eradicated. It was a rule of pure tyranny.
One fateful day, however, the Machina turned on its master. The weapon set its scope for his royal palace, and the entire monarchy was destroyed in an instant. The rest of the humans declared war on the weapon. After it killed millions of humans, we struck back. We sent a nuclear missile at the Machina, and it was destroyed. The remains of the weapon fell to Earth and vaporized in the atmosphere... except for the core. At the point of the nuclear blast, the Machina's core shattered into thousands of tiny pieces, and they too fell down to the planet. Most of us at first assumed that they had been destroyed on their descent. That was, until, a man found a piece. A shard of the Machina's core.
Some of us are still finding these shards scattered across earth. Some sending them to museums for display, others to universities to be studied... but a few of us have chosen the road less traveled. We've taken the mysterious properties of the Machina's core, and we've turned them into weapons. Today, a weapon that's powered by one of these shards is known as a Divine Chaos Apparatus. I've seen men and women use these weapons for evil, but I've also seen heroes fight back with weapons of their own. I, myself, am just a bystander. What are you? What will you do with this new-found power?

-Most important rule is what makes this a CST rather than a role play- do not act to serve yourself, act to serve the plot. -No god-modding. This means no characters that can take over another character's mind/body. -Rules in terms of bunnying will take a page out of Undead's book. Back Story: Xander was very rich when he got his Machina Shard, living off the inheritance of his extremely rich father. He owned an extremely profitable technology company, the Gateway Corporation. He quickly learned of the powers of the Machina Shard and got a team of the best scientists in the world to determine the best possible use for it. They constructed the Turbal Gauntlets. Xander now is a minor celebrity, visiting various places and using his weapon. While he doesn't generally perform evil acts, he's not above using the Gauntlets for self-benefit and refuses to tie himself down to an official government organization.

Personality: He's used to being the center of attention and can handle the media very well. He styles himself as a Superman-like character, stepping in to do good deeds, but in reality he's much less noble.

Description: The Turbal Gauntlets make use of the Machina Shards to construct swarms of tiny robots. The Gauntlets themselves can create a full swarm of nanobots in around five hours. Nanobots can be stored in chambers in the glove or in Xander's own body. Special nanobots in his brain (which also make one of his eyes green) receive signals to allow Xander to command the nanobots mentally. However, he has taken to waving his gloves around to dramatically command his swarm.
Location of Machina Shard: Split into two pieces, on the palm of each Gauntlet
Special Abilities: The nanobots can fly and transmit images. They can also form building blocks, stairways, bridges, or the like. This makes them helpful to repair things. Offensively, nanobots can physically attack enemies by tearing flesh, leading to a gruesome death. They can also suffocate people if they clog up air passages. Also, the nanobots perform maintenance on his body, which contributes to his youthful appearance.
Weakness: If Xander uses a large number of nanobots, he has to wait a few hours for them to recharge. His nanobots do not function in liquid, and rain makes them much slower and less responsive to commands.
Appearance: Black gloves with yellow fingertips. At the palm of each glove is a glowing shard, while a containment chamber exists at the back of the glove.

Back Story: In her youth, Ms. Hext had a few cardiac problems and had a pacemaker installed in her heart. She also had a growth impediment due to some other genetic disorders. Her first Machina shard "weapon" was produced by sheer serendipity. She obtained a necklace that had a Machina shard embedded into it. The one who grafted the shard onto the jewelry was not aware of the existence of said shards. When Ms. Hext put on the necklace later on, it started fusing into her chest and it was eventually absorbed into her body and fused with the pacemaker. The hospital she visited was affiliated with one of the many underground shard collection groups, one of the earlier groups in existence. Through the medical examinations and mild experimentation conducted on Ms. Hext, the group analyzed the powers the shard displayed and through a combination of blackmail, coercion, and various underhanded tactics, recruited her into the group. After an extended period of time and a couple mishaps with a certain Machina weapon, many members of Ms. Hext's family were killed. This lead her acceptance of her new occupation.
Among other things, Ms. hext has killed various people whilst on missions. The Hexa Ring was one such item obtained after killing a rich businessman. She has gathered many other shards and shard weaponry, however, her body rejects the majority of said shards due to being incompatible with her core shard.
Friends: N/A [For now that is.]
Enemies: As she is an employee of one of the many shard gathering underground groups, she is assigned targets or a time frame to gather X number of shards on her own accord. This generally means opposing people from a variety of affiliated groups that are either after the same shards or protecting shards she is commissioned to target.
Personality: Normally she is somewhat cynical, sarcastic, and tired of people. She swaps between a few sets of personalities to try to match more closely with each set of fake birth certificate and medical records.
Romance: Well, she's a senior. Who looks 10. Uh....
Appearance: Similar to Evangeline A. K. McDowell (child form). Note said series the character is considered shounen although that's just the Japanese rating so I'll just slap a 13+/16+ warning here.

"Weapon": Ring
Description: The ring generates hexagon shaped force field barrier. It can take shape as a simple wall of tessellating hexagons or in the shape of a three dimensional figure such as icosahedrons. Unlike what the name implies, the units of the barrier can take the shape of pretty much any simple regular polygon.
Location of Machina Shard: It takes the place of the gemstone on the ring.
Special Abilities: Hexa Wall, Hexa Dome [As described elsewhere]
Weakness: Cannot withstand a lot of stress. Continuous fire from a weapon such as a gun will easily deteriorate the barrier. Even with repetitive impact from swords and all of those weapons of antiquity eventually break the barrier. It is not a one way protection field so Alice cannot fire unless she creates a gap in the barrier which is basically the main point of weakness here. The recharge time for the ring to return to its peak condition is six hours which is more than enough time for a small scale skirmish to have ended dozens of times.
Appearance: It's a ring. The barrier looks as you would picture some kind of force field would look in sci-fi media.

"Weapon" Type: Body Modification
"Weapon": Pacemaker
Description: It's a glorified pacemaker in essence. It regulates the heart and due to the properties of this particular shard fragment, it allows her physical capabilities to be similar to a mildly athletic female athlete in their prime. It also has a slight shift in its beating pattern the closer it gets to another shard not in contact with Alice.
Location of Machina Shard: It's embedded into the wiring of the pacemaker.
Special Abilities: It doesn't need a change in batteries. It's more durable than the average pacemaker.
Weakness: Is a glorified pacemaker. That being said, enough of an electrical charge will of course disrupt its functions. [Of the people who have powers, there are already 2 people with electrical capabilities.
Appearance: It's a pacemaker. It won't be visible anyways.
Other: As an actual weapon, she carries some kind of custom .45 Colt (based on the 1911 models). [I am not knowledgeable about guns and pretty much randomly chose one off of Google.] Anyways, the magazine size is 8 bullets with an additional bullet in the chamber. She carries around a spare magazine so the effective number of shots should be 17. Single-action, semi-automatic pistol.
Also has an army knife since it's a useful utility item.

Appearance: Stands at 5 foot 6 inches tall (167.64 centimeters). Dark blue waist length hair that is tied up into low twintails. Wears a silver hairclip. Her left eye is a orange cybernetic eye; her right eye is pink. A scar goes through her left eye. Her cybernetic eye can activate a holographic screen which displays information from her weapon. She wears a bracelets that can control parts of her weapon (more detail in the weapons section). Her left arm is prosthetic and can also control her weapon.
Alignment: True Neutral (maybe Lawful Neutral, idk till I CST)
Backstory: Eva’s grandfather, Bryson Kane, was part of a small group of scientists who worked on Project Hex, one of many different projects to develop new weapons. However, the project was a fail as the weapon was too complicated to operate. But, instead of scrapping the weapon, Eva’s grandfather kept it.
Later on, his son, Allen Kane, found one of the Machina Shards. Allen resumed the project with his father, implanting the shard into the mechanism and developing ways to operate it easier. However, his father passed away before the project was finished. Allen married to a scientist named Sara Winter. The two proceeded to work on the project, but still the weapon was inoperable. They stopped working on it after Eva was born. But, a car accident that took away his wife and severely injured Eva. Allen resolved to completing the weapon no matter what. He decided to make it so only Eva could use it properly by making a cybernetic eye and a prosthetic limb that can coordinate with the weapon.
Eva was 15 when this happened. From then on she was homeschooled and her father also helped her get used to the weapon. However when she was 16 the government took her away along with the weapon. Since then she’s lived under government supervision.

Weapon: Uh… don’t know what you would call it… just read the description.
Description: A mechanism with 6 appendages specializing in offense, versatility, and mobility. Each arm can extend to a certain length and they can all retract as well. All of the appendages are generally thin and flexible. When activated, the mechanism is able to levitate behind Eva with the use of magnetism. It can attach to her as well when needed.
The mechanism also comes with two cameras that can detach and fly around. The cameras have the ‘camouflage’ ability which allows them to be unseen.
While the holographic screen acts as the main control panel, the bracelet that Eva wears and her prosthetic arm can control any two appendages directly, following her arm movement and such. The appendages that it controls can be configured using the holographic screen.
Appendage 1 and 2 extend to 20 feet (about 6 meters) with claws that can transform into blades that are 2 feet long (about 61 cm). Appendage 1’s blade can electrocute while Appendage 2’s blade has a miniature flamethrower attached. The two appendages are primarily used for close-ranged combat, although they can be used for wider range purposes with the use of the bracelet and prosthetic arm. These two appendages are mainly used in blade form. They are the strongest so they are strong enough to push her off the ground.
Appendage 3 and 4 extend to 10 feet (about 3 meters). Each have a minigun attached at the end. The miniguns have an auto target ability. Using the camera feed, Eva can determine someone or something as a target (using the holographic screen to configure that) which will then cause the miniguns to shoot said target(s). However, Eva has to command it to stop shooting or move on (or else it will keep shooting at a dead corpse/broken object). She can also manually control the miniguns. These two appendages are used for long range combat.
Appendage 5 and 6 extend to 65 feet (about 20 meters) and, like appendages 1 and 2, have claws on the ends. These two arms are solely used for mobility purposes and are the most rope-like of all the arms (think 3D maneuver gear).
The entire mechanism can transform to fire a giant, destructive laser beam. However it can only be used once every 24 hours.
tl;dr: Pretty much high tech 3DMG with guns and other stuff that can combine to make an epic laser cannon.

Special Abilities: Kinda went over this in the description.
Weaknesses: The weapon lacks in defense. Also, very high coordination skills are required to operate the weapon smoothly with all of its components making it hard to focus on the task at hand. Eva can only operate two of the appendages at full capability at one time.
Description or Sketch of Appearance: This is a really crude sketch made to get the point across. I’ll make an actual drawing of it later.
Other: When deactivated it turns into a metal backpack looking thing.

Back Story: 3 years ago, Drew was kind. She was just your average 17 year old. She had lots of friends and was almost always happy. 5 weeks after her 18th birthday, she found the shard. It was in a perfect sphere shape. Drew took the shard home with her. She opened the door to her room, but before she could close it, the power in the shard closed the door by itself. Drew knew it was no ordinary crystal. She made Fury, and placed the gem inside. After making the arrow, she grew to love the power. The feeling of taking control overwhelmed her. Drew threatened people with her new found “power” and tried to rule the world. She did her best to not lost complete control of herself, but she couldn’t. Drew was power hungry, and nothing could stop that.

Personality: Drew is the type of girl that will stab you in the back when you think she is your friend.

Back Story: Two weapons, called SENTRY and DEUS-X were developed at the same time. One professional agent, named Edward Trevelyan, was to be given both in a dual-wielding project. SENTRY was a light shield with elements of a claw, and DEUS-X was a straight sword. Once both weapons were complete, Trevelyan would become a powerful crime-fighter... in theory. The organization he works under is not to be trusted.
SENTRY was completed, but DEUS-X was still in development. That didn't stop the thief. A criminal cloaked in black broke into the facility and stole the sword. Edward was in at the time. Before the hooded individual could escape, he confronted it. He activated SENTRY and the two fought. Despite his rigorous training using the shield, the thief used the sword to overpower him and escape. The thief is still at large to this day, and Edward will not stop until he finds her.
Friends: None
Enemies: Edward Trevelyan
Personality: Azula is a mysterious individual. She takes advantage of the loopholes of society- a major case being the fact that the development of the DEUS-X was kept a secret from the public, and because of this she can freely make use of it. At the University she can be fairly social, but at night, as she works, she keeps in total silence.
Azula is impulsive and reckless, both at studies and combat.

Description: A rare and powerful Machina shard powers the sword, which has a blade of laser. It's basically a lightsaber, but not a saber. More like a katana of sorts. Needless to say, it can cut through most objects with ease.
Location of Machina Shard: Edge of the hilt
Special Abilities: Violently slashing with the blade will release a loud shock wave, which can momentarily stun foes.
Weakness: The weapon's technically broken. The shock wave ability was a side effect, and was not intended to be applied. Releasing a shock wave can potentially damage the weapon.

Name: Selina Nielsen
Nickname: N/A

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Back Story: Erik Nielsen is Selina’s father. He obtained the Machina Shard at a garage sale. The previous owners of the Shard believed to be nothing more than an old statue or figure of some sort because when they found it it was twisted and misshapen. However, Erik realized what it was and turned it into a dagger, which he kept hidden because he didn’t want anyone to know he had it and potentially contact authorities to have it taken away from him.
Later, Erik married and Selina was born. However, shortly after her birth, his wife left, leaving him alone to care for Selina. This led to Erik becoming resentful towards Selina, as he believed that she was the reason his wife left. Selina was largely independent growing up, as her father did little to help her. When Selina was 9, she found Erik’s dagger stashed away in the attic, along with the gloves that activate it. She didn’t dare say anything to anybody for fear that her father would fly into a rage if he knew that she had found it.
By the time Selina was in high school, Erik had become a severe alcoholic and was frequently verbally abusive towards her, causing her to retreat to her room or stay outside away from him as often as possible. One day during the summer after she had graduated from high school, Erik left the house to go hang out with his buddies, and Selina took that chance to grab as much food and money as she could carry, as well as the dagger, and left her home for good. Later she discovered that her father had gotten in a wreck due to being intoxicated, ending up with two of his friends dead and himself in prison, as well as killing both of the people in the other car.
Other: She steals to get by, and lives in various alleys and old buildings. When she goes out to rob houses or stores, she wears a mask and wears her hood up. She’s also ambidexterous.

Personality: Selina is grouchy and trusts no one. She also has no qualms with harming others, even if they are defenseless. However, she doesn’t generally go out of her way to hurt people. She tries to avoid being around other people because she fears being caught.
Description: On its own, the dagger isn’t anything special, but when the part of the Machina Shard on the grip is touched by other parts of the Shard (which are located in the gloves) a 10mA electric current runs through the blade of the dagger. The gloves also act as insulators.
Location of Machina Shard: On the hilt and blade of the dagger, as well as in the gloves.
Special Abilities: Well, already explained that...
Weakness: Using the dagger with the gloves in rainy or wet environments may cause the electricity to shock the wielder, since he or she will be wet. The dagger loses its current when it is no longer in contact with the gloves. The dagger is also only useful in close combat and it may be outmatched by longer weapons or ones that are long-range. While it can be thrown, it loses its current which limits its effectiveness, especially since Selina has poor aim.
Appearance: I’ll put a picture up when I stop being lazy since I don’t feel like describing it and I don’t feel like drawing it. Until then, use your imagination.

Name: Ezekiel Arnato Nickname: Zeke Age: 16 Gender: Male Alignment: Chaotic Evil (Though character change is always a possibility)
Back Story:"A blind, innocent young man...why, he couldn't harm a fly..."
Zeke's parents were members of a semi-secret (and quite illegal) organization called Eclipse. Agents of Eclipse go on missions to steal (they prefer the term "retrieve") shards of the Machina's core, whether from museums or individuals. After obtaining the piece, Eclipse either embeds it in one of their own weapons or sells it on the black market.
When Zeke's parents were arrested and executed after attempting to steal a shard from a government facility, Eclipse took in little four year-old Zeke. Not out of pity or sentiment, of course- the way Eclipse viewed the matter was that his parents had failed to complete a mission, and thus they were in debt. Finding that the government had confiscated Zeke's parents' belongings and savings, they enlisted Zeke as a member of Eclipse, required to serve until his death.
Zeke was born blind, and of course that would have rendered him useless to Eclipse. However, they created and gave him a pair of prosthetic eyes far superior to any others, for embedded in both of them were small shards of the Machina's core.
Friends: Eclipse isn't exactly an ideal place for striking up friendships. The closest thing to a friend he has is a girl named Freida with whom he often goes on missions with. Her weapon is a whip, a core shard sitting on the handle. Enemies: Certain government agents who've been tasked with the job of eliminating Eclipse
Personality: Partially due to the fact that he grew up surrounded by murderers, liars and thieves, Zeke learned early on to keep on a cold mask. He will talk and laugh and joke, but not in a warm way. However, he is an excellent liar, and when on missions, he can easily act and appear to be a friendly, innocent teenager. Romance: No.

Other: Zeke usually goes about in public with dark sunglasses and his cane, and as a result most people think he can't see at all. This is mainly so people don't see him as a threat, and partially to hide his mechanical eyes. If he wanted to blend in more, he would just get rid of the cane and use the sunglasses to hide his eyes.
Also, Zeke is an excellent poker player.

Special Abilities: Vision Enhancement: Really, just stereotypical stuff- night vision, x-ray, tetrachromacy, etc. Fire: If he concentrates hard enough on an object, and depending on what it's made up of, Zeke can set things aflame. Telekinesis: Depending on weight of object and his distance, sometimes Zeke can move things without physical contact. However, this requires eye contact and concentration, and if the object is moved, he'll have to start over. Shard Detection: His main use for Eclipse is that his eyes can detect core shards. No matter how well you disguise your shard, Zeke will know it's there... Shard Nullification: Zeke can nullify the effects of the Machina shard- Drew's bow and arrow would become normal, Azula and Selina would find themselves with ordinary blades, etc. I'm not too sure on what the effects would be on Xander's bots or Eve's weapon... Shard Explosion: His eyes can cause Machina shards to explode, but because Eclipse wants them intact, he doesn't use this often.
Weakness: 1. His eyes aren't exactly the most useful if in a fight. 2. Nullification requires him to gaze at the shard (give or take a foot), so if the target moves quickly enough, Zeke won't be able to disable the core piece.

Back Story: Snædís was a typical "daddy's little girl" (since her mother had died during childbirth), she followed her father everywhere and learned everything he taught her, one of the skills being his crossbow. She often went hunting with him in their homeland of Iceland. At the age of 17, her father had been murdered. Snædís had arrived home after school one afternoon to find her father just barely alive, with 3 quarrels (crossbow ammo) in his chest, from his own crossbow. A piece of paper was attached by a quarrel to the wall near her father's body, it read: Your father was right to keep you hidden from me, but now you are hidden no longer. Your father got what he deserved, and soon, so should you. So run little child, run like the wind, but don't look back...I'm coming for you too... Since then Snædís has been on the run, trying to stay low and anonymous when possible. She has been quite the vigilante on the way, trying to save others from the horrors she herself had to endure, but she always looks over her shoulder prepared for whatever may come her way...she was ready to defeat her father's killer, no matter the cost.

Personality: Snædís is a kind, gentle soul who cares for others, very loving indeed. When necessary, she can be aggressive and still seeks revenge for her father's death to this day. Description: A crossbow made of pure steel, with silver engraved emblems. The quarrels are made of pure silver, which Snædís knows how to make since her father had taught her, just in case she is not able to retrieve her quarrels after shooting them.
Location of Machina Shard: In the tiller of the crossbow, as well as a very tiny shard in each quarrel.
Special Abilities: There aren't really special abilities, but there are special quarrels that Snædís uses for different purposes. There are normal quarrels, shock quarrels (which create an electric shock upon impact), tracer quarrels (which can be used to keep track of someone from a device she made to receive satellite signals from the quarrel), plasma quarrels (which are hard (but not impossible) for Snædís to make and she uses them rarely, a bit of plasma gets released from the quarrel a second before impact so that it maximizes impact power), and also split quarrels (which have a couple (10-20) of smaller quarrels built into one so that a couple of seconds before impact, the quarrel splits and hits the target in more than one spot).
Weakness: If a quarrel is not retrievable, Snædís will have to make another one (which takes time and effort, not good to run out of quarrels when in combat...that's why she always keeps a dagger in her boot, although she is not as skilled with it as she is with the crossbow).

Azula
High atop the mighty rooftops the hooded girl ran, running at breakneck speed and pouncing from building to building with incredible deftness. Her aggressors made haste in their pursuit, soaring through the black sky focusing on their infamous adversary. At the end of the street where the park could be seen, she leaped into the air and unveiled a pistol which she used to dispatch one of the hunters. The others detoured to avoid fire from the front, and aimed to cut her off at the pool. The girl landed to the ground and took off to the park. When she reached the pool's edge she unleashed a cloud of smoke and darted west into the brush to escape. The hunters split up to search for her.
In the brief moment of safety, Azula concealed her gun and silently examined her surroundings. She was in an old park that was set to be demolished the next day. As soon as she found out that the chip she had set out to retrieve was about to be lost forever, she had rushed into the city without so much as a plan. When she pulled out the radar, she found that the chip was in the bush right behind her. As she bent down to pick it up, she heard a loud clanging noise. She turned around and met one of the hunters- an armored, winged mercenary sent to take back what she had stolen. The hunter shot itself forward at an alarming speed. Azula sidestepped, and out of her scabbard she unleashed the DEUS-X. Her aggressor's next attack was again dodged, and met with a deadly retaliation. She slashed through the machine once, and it was cut clean in half. Before it could have been dispatched completely, however, the hunter set off a loud beacon giving off her location.
Azula sheathed her sword and made a break for it, scaling the park's wall and running into the streets. An incoming car screeched to a halt and honked, while she simply used it as a boost to reach a lamp post, then jumped through a glass window into an office building. She ran through the halls, pushing civilians out of the way and then making her way down to the building's basement. She was cut off by reinforcements, so she ran outside to the streets yet again. More hunters pinpointed her and opened fire. Azula took our her blade and struck some down. One by one more beacons blared. A blinding light shot down at her. It was a helicopter. Two more flanked as backup. Azula's hood hid her face in shadow in contrast to the spotlight. Once she adjusted her eyes, a gigantic hunter mech came into view, as did dozens of hunters with their guns pointed at her head. But the agent was the one she was alarmed at the sight of.
A red gem on Agent Trevelyan's gauntlet flashed briefly, and it transformed into the powerful shield known as SENTRY. Azula held steadfast, tightly gripping the DEUS-X despite her clear disadvantage.
Trevelyan spoke up. "Simply amazing how it took us so long to finally catch you. Tell me, my mysterious prey, how has your little treasure hunt kept up? Have you found any objects of merit you'd like to return to us?" He broke into a sly smile and he stepped closer. "But, of course, what I first want to see..." Treveylan was only a couple of feet away from her. "What are you hiding under that hood of yours? I hope you wouldn't mind I... had a look?" He touched her head to remove her hood, but before he could get a grip she deflected his arm and struck his shield with her blade. He retreated a couple of feet in panic. Azula held the DEUS-X aloft. Right as Trevelyan ordered the hunters to open fire, Azula stabbed the blade right into the ground. A deafening pulse echoed throughout the city, and a shock wave fried the machines' circuits, rendering every one of them useless. She let out a smoke bomb and vanished into the city.

"You asked for me?" Zeke asked softly. He sat rigid as a board in the stiff chair, meeting the caporegime's cold eyes. Although Zeke had just been shaken from his sleep at two in the morning, he was still alert and lucid. The dark man nodded slowly. "Did you feel the pulse of energy coming from the city?" "Should I be concerned that I didn't?" The capo ignored his drawl and informed him, "An agent reported it coming from a sword, no doubt one embedded with a Machina shard. Apparently, a hooded figure thrust it into the ground, which caused the shaking we felt, then disappeared in a puff of smoke." "And we know this isn't an ordinary sword how?" "Zeke, the effects of the sword were felt throughout the entire city." "No. I didn't feel it." "You were sleeping." "I'm a light sleeper." The capo's tapped his pencil against the desk impatiently. "Just check it out, Zeke." "Send someone else. I refuse to be sent on a wild goose chase."
The capo suddenly leaned forward on the desk violently, snarling. "You know perfectly well you're the only one in Eclipse who can detect Machina shards. Any other agent would have to go to the trouble of interrogating this hooded figure, not to mention tracking down the person- you can detect shards a football field away." Zeke swallowed. "I'll die trying to get this core piece. If he- well, or she- really has a Machina sword, there's no way I can retrieve this myself." "Zeke, you have a sword hidden in your cane. You aren't exactly harmless." "A normal sword is nothing against a Machina sword." "Look, you only need to determine the whereabouts of the target. We will send someone else to apprehend the person. And before you argue, remember that the alternative to this mission is a knife in your head."
An hour later, Zeke was standing in a dark alley that held the secret entrance to Eclipse headquarters. He slipped into the sleeping city, swift as a raven and silent as a shadow. Having no intention of starting on his mission, he had kept his sunglasses, as always, but abandoned his walking cane (which meant abandoning his sword). There was a time and place for everything; three in the morning was not the time for stalking figures who might not even exist. Zeke slipped into a bar, ready for a game of poker. The mysterious, hooded person would have to wait.

“So. What exactly did you want to discuss this early in the morning?” Eva impatiently stood in front of her superior’s desk while he was busy organizing papers and files.
“Ah you’re here. Didn’t notice you come in.” The chief motioned to sit down.
Oh please I’m sure he noticed with that squeaky door of his. Probably just wanted me to say something. What a bother. Eva sat down in one of the chairs.
“Anyways, it seems that the hooded thief is giving us trouble again. He or she escaped again, but one of our surveillance cameras managed to get a picture to us before it got destroyed.” The chief pulled out a blurry picture.
“Eh. There’s not much that this picture tells us other than what we already know.” Eva inspected the picture closer. She then noticed long strands of hair sticking out from under the thief’s hood. “Oh I see now. There’s a high chance our thief is a girl. But still, we would’ve found this out regardless, and probably even confirmed it, so this picture is pretty useless.”
“True. But our thief is going to get herself pretty well known, which means a lot of things. First, it might make it easier for us to catch her. However this will also make her a target for other shard seeking organizations. She’s pretty much an unprotected walking Machina Shard at this point.”
“Well there is a chance that’s she’s working for another organization. I mean, provoking us like that is rather risky for an individual. But I suppose either way we’ll have to catch her before other people do. Anything else?” Eva asked.
“Yes. There’s another individual that we need to apprehend: Roderick Grayson, an influential man on the black market. It has come to our attention that he has five Machina Shards in his possession obtained through illegal means. It will be yours and a few other agents’ job to catch him and retrieve the shards as well.” The chief handed Eva different files regarding Grayson.
“Understood.”
“Oh and one more thing that specifically retains to you. It has been decided that you are going to enroll in the university nearby.”
“..... Huh?” Eva was at a loss. Why now?
“As you know we’re partnered with the university. They have a committee that works with Machina Shards to develop technology; the same kind of work we do. Recently the Machina Shards over there are slowly disappearing. Most likely they were stolen. So far three are missing. We think that Roderick Grayson might have a connection to this.”
“If you wanted me to spy around there are much better people for the job. I’d stick out like a sore thumb, considering my eye and arm.” This is gonna be a disaster…
The chief sighed. “Replacing limbs and organs with cybernetic ones is becoming for common nowadays. Also, isn't going to college supposed to be a good thing?”
“Um… it’s a little late for me to start now. You’re supposed to start when you’re 18…”
“Are you perhaps embarrassed that you’re going to be a 21 year-old freshman?” The chief smirked.
Eva felt her cheeks turn red. “What no! It’s not like that! It’s just that if I stand out so much I wouldn’t be able to do my job!” This is so stupid…
“You’ll be fine. Since today’s a Sunday you’ll start attending tomorrow. I’ve sent your classes and stuff so you can check that on your own time. Think of it as a change of pace okay? Just see if you find anything suspicious. That will be all.”
What are they even thinking… Eva stormed out of the office. She sighed. It’s 3 AM now… I suppose I could get a few hours of sleep. She looked through the files on the way out of the building. Grayson, missing shards, the thief, and the university. Things are going to be busy.

With his transformed weapon he dropped out of high school and swore to kill anyone who ever misuses a DCA, and cut his brother's killer in half. He's since then looking for DCA users he deems unworthy, kills them and collects their shard.

With every shot of her arrow, she flew farther and farther. She reached the place where the pulse happened. Drew stopped and waited. Somebody will come out at some point...

She slipped the chip into her computer and got to work. On the chip she found an audio file and a folder. Azula tried to open the folder, but it was locked with a password. She turned to the audio file. It was a recording of a man's voice.
"Well done. But the hunt has just begun, my friend. If you're truly willing to retrieve every last piece, you'll have to go through a few trials...
I know a man that goes by the name of Roderick Grayson. I've trusted the next part of the puzzle in his hands specifically so that the government cannot access our goal. If any agent is spotted in his territory, he's dead. No amount of law enforcement can survive in that pit of criminal chaos.
I think you know the district I'm talking about, assuming you're local to this city. Go to St. Bertrand, but don't go hunting around for him. Flash the key, and he'll come to you. I must warn you, however. Grayson's not to be trusted. Worst comes to worst, he might try to rip you off, or perhaps slowly instill a less fortunate fate... In that scenario, kill him and move on."

Zeke silently pulled out his sword and trained his eyes on the bow, ready to disable the shard at a moment's notice.
But first, information- Zeke would never be forgiven if he apprehended a target without determining their identity and purpose. For all he knew, it was another Eclipse agent, though he doubted it. No Eclipse agent in their right mind would just stand out there in the open.
"I hope you haven't been waiting long," he called out in a lazy voice. "Apologies for holding you up."

The shard puts this electricity on timer, preventing the release of energy until it is inside the nervous system, scrambling all the signals and temporarily disabling movement and the senses. Lasts about 30 seconds.

Ava was in good spirits. She had finally finished preparing. When she realized how lucrative evil villainy really was, she gave up her life of disabled poverty for one of clients, the black market and money. Now she had gotten enough time and funding to complete it-her brainchild.
From the outside, it looked like a featureless black cube, made of some metal or stone. In reality, it was her armored vehicle. Completely bulletproof, and ventilated, she could sit inside in her wheelchair, use all of its features (particularly the ones that used her shard) just as she would normally, only she would be completely unseen. Nobody would even know it was being piloted by a human. Time to take it for a spin. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 hour later
There had been 6 different reports of a black cube. Every time, the witnesses remembered seeing a black cube hover into a building, then a flashing blue light fly out of it. After that, a flood of random smells, colors, and sounds. 30 seconds later, their senses would return to their normal state, and the cube would be gone.
