The Haunted Hotel
« on: October 20, 2015, 06:30:14 pm »
Unarmed, Harley enters the hotel. Upon entrance, cobwebs stick to him. The floorboards creak every step he takes. Is that blood on the floor? Harley shivers. Harley wished he had never joined that Truth or Dare game. It's the worst month of the year to play Truth or Dare.

They knew the mental impact darkness had on Harley. It made him lose awareness of reality. Hallucinations, outbursts, countless of horrible things - all because darkness steals his sanity like a bank robber. His friends just had to make him venture into this eerie hotel.

To his relief, Harley finds a lantern, but he also finds something else - a dead body! Was this actually haunted? This lantern may protect his sanity, but not from the monsters. What would he do?

As Harley is pondering this, he fails to notice a hulking pale dog with crimson eyes. Before he can count to three, the dog is on him, mercilessly attacking him.

Harley had lived in an empty house for four years, from age eleven to almost sixteen. There was constantly something happening. Doors flying open and shut, voices, footsteps. Nothing ever stayed where you put it. He was alone there a lot because both his parents worked and he was constantly terrified. This is why he didn't like this haunted house any better, and especially not the friendly dog who had an odd way of displaying its kindness - with its claws.

One of the most disturbing things in the haunted house was the girl who looked like Harry Potter in the bathroom. Every time Harley walked past the bathroom door, he saw the creepy girl. She just stood there, staring, looking like a photograph from 1905. He started keeping the door closed so he could walk by without seeing her, but she was always there when he opened it. Once Harley stepped in past her, he couldn't see her anymore but could feel her there. She scared him, but Harley felt really sorry for her because she was trapped there, just like him, but probably forever.

This time, in the gloomy, gloomy, bathroom, Harley hears the Potter girl talking.

"Who am I?" She says. "I am your mother's sister. Did she not mention me and how I died young? What a shame." She sounds as if she was talking directly to Harley. Chills rush up his spine. "My name is of no importance. You may call me the Snow Queen. I am ruler of winter gales and snowstorms. I trace the frost across your windowpanes and freeze the water deep into the ground. Your mother could have ruled beside me, you know." She says, more softly. "We were twins - destined to guard this empire. To remain strong. But then a human stumbled into our realm." Her voice grows threatening. "He was half frozen to death. I said let him die, but your mother insisted on taking him in. She spent every waking moment by his side. Even when she was supposed to be asleep, she could be found with him, talking to him, reading him stories. She nursed him back to health. She had fallen in love, and soon enough, so had he." She says this last line scornfully, her voice sharp as icicles. "When it was time for him to leave, she went with him. I tried to stop her, believe me, but it was too late. She had taken our heart - our shared heart! I stupidly killed myself, my lost piece of heart also my motivation to live. But I intend to get it back."

She shimmers back into Harley's sights, smiles at him evilly and slices her hands through the air. A blade of ice forms at her fingertips. Realization dawns on Harley painfully slowly, and he scrambles backwards. He hits a wall at the back of the room. The Snow Queen had not slowed, merely matched his frantic scrambling with her steady strides. Harley is completely trapped.
