This differs from other roleplays in that it takes place in our world. Basically, before we start, everyone who wishes to participate will post the name of a nation/territory in the thread. When we begin, I will randomize the nations and assign each participant one of them, which will be theirs to control. Nations will differ in available manpower, resources, climate (which affects the supplies necessary for battling there), etc. The rp, once it begins, will be somewhat similiar to the board game RISK only in an rp form, and with more variables. Alliances are allowed (and recommended). Gameplay will go as follows: all things that are publicly available/ easily determined (like, for example, calling of a ceasefire) will be posted in the forum, while covert operations, like secret troop mobilization, will be discussed with me via PM.

Note: to make this more interesting, no secure phone lines. You'll have to use more traditional comm. methods.
Also, you divide up army and ranks; whether you want 3 divisions each headed by a general and 2 lieutenant generals or one big division and a vanguard or whatever is up to you.

If you communicate with someone via PM, I must be notified of the correspondence, and the method of doing so, since there will always be a chance that someone in the area intercepts the information and tampers with it.
Tactics and maneuvers will be posted within 36 hours of declaration of battle. If a battle starts, you are gone for 2 days, come back to find you lost, and argue that you would have used an encirclement maneuver, then TOO BAD.
ALL UNDERHANDED TACTICS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO BACKSTABBING, GANGING UP, AND SABOTAGE/MISINFORMATION ARE PERMITTED AND ENCOURAGED!!!

Also, 4 more countries have been chosen at random to participate as well. The will be commanded by the other members in their alliance (ex: if ziad and widm ally, and then, say, Canada joins them, then Canadian troops will be commanded by both ziad and widm and be sent to aid India and Japan.) The 4 countries that were chosen are: Italy, Australia, Mongolia, and Ukraine. Their position will be decided after principal alliances are announced, which may happen beginning from now. Basically, they will ensure that no alliance is completlely and ridiculously overpowered.

Is this a real thing that is going to happen?

PUBLIC TREATY ANNOUNCEMENT:

Sharkfinsoup, leader of Turkey has officially allied himself with the nations of Ukraine and Mongolia.

Terms: Any declaration of war from any of the three above nations will be reciprocated by the other two; similarly, any declaration of war on any of the three above nations will be met with extreme prejudice from all of them. This also includes exclusive trade rights between the three.

PUBLIC TREATY ANNOUNCEMENT II:

I am here to announce the Treaty of Ubatuba, a treaty between India, Brazil, and Australia.  This treaty has the following terms:
-Brazil will give India and Australia ample amounts of its main resources, including wood and natural gas.
-Brazil and India gain exclusive rights to Australia's steel exports
-India and Australia will defend the homeland of the other countries in the treaty

Sorry jamesgames, but you don't get to choose your own country.  Instead, the chosen countries were put into a random number generation pool that selected who got which country.  Greece isn't too powerful, though, and the game hasn't gotten into full swing yet, so M2 might be able to work something out.

As the war grows bigger, I will be adding 4 more neutral countries each 1-2 weeks. This will keep things Interesting. Also, the countries added are going to be getting more and more powerful, so you should keep expanding if you want to have any chance of competing with them when they come in.
