Jason got up. He took an apple and threw a coin into the basket after it.
"Where are you going?"
"To the market," Jason said and kept walking.

When he reached the north market, he stopped.

No killer here... Maybe I should just leave.

He saw a girl with a notebook.
Well I guess that's questionable. No it's not...
"Hey! You! Who are you?" Jason shouted.

Jason

A Meralee..
"Jason. I..uh..work near that library place. In Meralee...

So what are you doing here?"

Jason

"A killer? Where did this uh, "weird cult" head?"

"Jason!"

...Is that Ash..?

"Jason! Jason what's going on?"

Jason turned around, and there Ash was.
Ash leaned over and whispered in Jason's ear, "We need to get out of here. There's a killer."
"I know," Jason said to Ash, "That's why I'm here."
"Again? You're going to do something stupid again?"

Jason just ignored Ash's comment.
"Maxine, where did you say they were heading?"

Scarlet
It all started with the birth of Scarlet Hanson. She was born with blood red eyes which her mother despised. By the age of 3 she was assigned forced labor. She was abused, hit, slapped, and locked away in dark rooms until almost starved. The darkness became her friend and there was someone who was always in the darkness... the one whom she came to love... the one who she came to be... obsessed with.

Kalmath
Kalmath walked out of the cathedral. No one she talked to had ever seen the Grand Chancellor, much less talked to her. I'll never find a dragon! She thought to herself, I'll have to figure magic out by myself. I mean what teacher would want to train a dragon? I'm supposed to be on a whole other level to humans, and I can't even talk to my horse!
She stumbled back towards the northern market, breathing loudly.

Freyda

I'll try to find the scene of the murder and radiate outward from there.

Freyda walked toward the center of the market, near where the attack had taken place.  She noticed two girls and a boy standing in a group and walked up to them.

"Hey!  Did you see where that Shade went?  If you give me good info, I can make it worth your while."

Percy Forge, aka Rick Reiner, is an expert pitcher who puts on shows in the market displaying his company's products.  His boss is extremely controlling, and forces Rick to do anything if it increases sales, from his fake name to his flamboyant outfit.  His green skin was the result of a botched enchantment a few years ago, but Rick found that it attracted customers and thus his boss forced him to keep it.  Rick doesn't hate his job, but he's a little fed up with it.  However, he continues to put on a good face for the camera.

Rick's Knickknacks is a charms company specializing in commercial-grade charms.  Merchant-grade charms contain spells that are useful for time-saving and convenience purposes, as opposed to mage-grade charms, which contain more powerful spells that you need a permit to buy or produce.  In particular, Rick's Knickknacks sells the leading type of communication charms on the market.  Thus, Rick is an expert at enchanting objects with complex spells.  He does have some skill with offensive enchantments, like the ones on his sword, but he is not a nobleman and thus he does not often get a chance to use them.

Freyda

Freyda sighed.  "Guess not then.  I don't know or care what you think you heard, but you'd better keep your mouth shut about it, y'hear?  There's a bounty on that guy's head, so everybody's gonna be after him."

Percy/Rick

Rick was standing on a podium on the northwestern side of the market, calling out.

"Step right up, folks, and sit down.  I'm Rick Reimer, and I'm here today to show you an amazing invention, courtesy of Rick's Knickknacks!"  Rick was holding a blue orb, about the size of a bean, in his hands.  "Ever realize that you don't have your keys, sword, or protection amulet with you, and you have trouble finding where they are?  You could waste hours looking for them all around your house.  Well, Rick's Pointer Charm can solve those problems for good!  If you attach this node to an object" – Rick tapped the orb to a set of keys, and the orb sank into them – "and then put a tiny bit of magical energy into this necklace, you'll feel a tug in the direction of wherever the object is located.  Anyone want to try it out?"  He held out a necklace.  "This necklace is keyed to a special prize – a coupon for Rick's Knickknacks!  Any volunteers to put it on and find it?  It's hidden somewhere in this market!"
