Startled at the stillness broken by reply so aptly spoken,
“Doubtless,” said I, “what it utters is its only stock and store
Caught from some unhappy master whom unmerciful Disaster
Followed fast and followed faster till his songs one burden bore—
Till the dirges of his Hope that melancholy burden bore
Of ‘Never—nevermore’.”

Sylvester

He walked into a dimly lit area and vanished. A few seconds later Maxwell heard his footsteps from behind followed by the rustling of a long chain. Sylvester launched it like a lasso, fastening it loosely around his neck and pulling tight.
In that moment, there was only silence.

Irlin

Where the hell is my counterbalance? Irlin grabbed at the chain and disenchanted it, a white line shot up and down the chain. Dammit, almost out of mana, make it count!. his vision blurred and he gagged, feeling the metal bite into his skin. A small white pulse flew from his hand to the chain behind his neck. He grabbed the chain and snapped it, the metal still hanging on his neck tightly.

Out of mana, he made a break for the window.

Cabal slowly stood up, it was quite dark, and whoever that man was had hidden himself.

But the Raven still beguiling all my fancy into smiling,
Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird, and bust and door;
Then, upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking
Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of yore—
What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous bird of yore
Meant in croaking “Nevermore.”

Sylvester

He's run out of time.

His grin grew to that of an alligator as he emerged from the shadows once more and tackled him, both of them crashing through the window and scattering glass in their wake. Sylvester grasped his neck and flew up towards the sky. "About my religion question, good sir, I was merely worried for your goodwill. After all, I am your guardian."

His appearance shifted once more. He was a teenager with bright blue eyes and white hair. "...And it's cold where you're going." He let go, allowing Maxwell to fall to the earth below. Wings now a bright shade of white, he descended after him and waited for him to hit the ground.
In that moment, there was only silence.

Irlin

A flare of white light lit of the area where Irlin landed. He lay on his back staring up at the shapeshifter, "You're a loony. But I understand, you win." He pulled out a small locket and opened it up, "Here's your victory march."

He pressed a small button inside of the locket. His body began turning white as dozens of charms hidden in his robes began to activate, slowly, then all at once. A flare of white energy shot out from him, searing Sylvester and launching him backwards.

... Barely anything remained of Maxwell Irlin, just a charred body and a few burned papers.

Cabal

Cabal looked down from the window in shock at first, but then she shook her head. It was inevitable, blue mages are too cocky for their own good. She opened up a small hatch in the back of the suite and climbed up on to the roof, then took a running jump towards another building....

Yori Senlevon

"Yes, I'm glad you're back Charlie. Let's go back."

And that was just how it ended. He quickly admitted defeat and tried to take me with him.

Thus goes the fate of all who defy the King and his guardian, Aquila.

It is man's lesson to know his place among his community. My role is to teach people. To be frank, it's a pretty boring job. No fun at all.

Nevertheless, as a servant to this world I'll hold up the status quo until I breathe my last.

Although, to be honest, I don't expect that to happen anytime soon.

Aquila

The blast had left a massive strike on his face, a wound that would later become an irrevocable scar. For protection, Aquila put his hood over his face. He slowly approached Irlin's remains and frowned.

Typical.
In that moment, there was only silence.

-Current suspect: Yori Senlevon
-Suspected of hiring an assassin to violently murder Walton Monroe, by means of full dismemberment
-To get closer to him, I've decided to join the academy.

Julia Pecker

Three days later.

In the morning a few days after the attacks by the alleged terrorists following Maxwell Irlin, Yori Senlevon's academy eventually re-opened and accepted her request to enroll.

Outside it was chilly and unusually moist, as the night before it'd rained for the first time in 12 years above Yezin. The city was cautious, but the people were recovering. Julia stood in front of the front gates, preparing to complete her work. Around her, students entered, eager to complete their education.

I think it's best I make some connections within the school grounds first. She rested her hand on her lips, scanning the area for someone to "ask for directions", then to discretely strike up a conversation. After a somewhat awkward amount of time spent standing on one spot, she was nearly knocked down as a blond boy accidentally bumped into her.

She turned round to face him- a student hear her age group, who had been there during the terrorist attacks, and likely had seen Senlevon during that time.

It was the perfect starting point.

Julia Pecker
The End
In that moment, there was only silence.

Kappa Chew

"The preparations took longer than expected... However, we're ready!"

The male clapped her hands together, almost squealing with excitement. The cube by her side had morphed into a new shape, once of it's faces with a three foot long cannon nozzle. A few drops of toothpaste could be seen dripping from its end, the male giggling at the thoughts.

"Now... Fire!"

With an almost comical bang sound, a glob of toothpaste was fired off, sludging on the surface of a building. Immediately, the cube rotated, and fired again. And again, and again. It continued this method until the town corner the two entities occupied was almost completely caked in toothpaste.

"Ah, hahaha!~"

Veran Izaph

Veran stood on the edge of the wall that surrounded Yezin, overlooking the city. Much to her disappointment, not much has changed. It's a shame the terrorists didn't end up causing any real damage. Whatever disturbance they did cause was starting to fade away.

Well, she did find out something interesting at least. That night, she sensed something. A powerful, otherworldly being. Similar to the beast trapped within her. One day that beast will escape its vessel. Veran felt that day would come sooner than later.

Hahahaha...

The thought was truly terrifying.

Senlevon

It had been three days, Sylvester reported that Irlin had been cleaned up,and his organization seemed to scatter overnight. Funerals were planned for the handful of dead in the next few weeks....

Now it was back to work, the last two days had been rather normal, but there had been a new student.

Julia Pecker...... Have I heard that name before?

Kelcie

After a minor lightning bolt fail, Kelcie had become determined to figure out how lightning bolt explosions worked exactly. It seemed like a simple yet deadly attack, if only she could figure out the small details of it that had caused problems when she had tried it.

Power: Pretty strong, can knock out anyone in a five foot radius and cause minor problems to people within seven feet.
Display: Looks damn good when the explosion occurs, even if the spell messes up.
How it works: .uh?

She had been going to speak to Cahaya when she saw a girl bump into him. She walked up and said, "New here?"

Mark

3 days after everything had happened, Mark was back at the academy. Although, Mark smiled inwardly. His master spell had finally turned out, the animal buff and control spell. Mark was content, and redy to rebegin school. He turned to his group of friends, and waved to them. He remembered the times when he would have used people like them before. But, after his experience, he had changed. Once again, Mark grinned. He would live his life and be the best he could be.

Erat

It had been 3 days since Erat had recovered Senlevon and his students. Erat had gone back to his place of isolation, but he thought twice. After being part of soceity once again, Erat pondered if he should rejoin it. But not in Yezin. Erat was done in Yezin. After paying his respects to those who had died fighting Irlin, Erat had pakced his bags, weapons and had gotten out. He left the cave he had spent year making intact, incase someone ever needed it.

Now, on the borders of Yezin. Erat looked back once. He had made his decision, and now was not the time to go back on it. Erat began the long journey to a place he had never heard of or seen. This time, he didn't look back.

((The next few posts are kind of filler posts concerning a part of Raena's past. WARNING: These posts will not be short.))

Raena, 3 years ago

“Raena! Over here!” shouted a tall redhead from his position in front of the Academy’s doors.

The brown eyed girl turned to face whoever had addressed her. Her long, dark hair dancing in the wind. “Yes, Alan?” she asked after approaching him.

“I have great news! I just got accepted into one of the highest noble clubs in the school!” Alan replied, hoping up and down in excitement.

“Um…that’s cool, I guess,” the girl replied without enthusiasm.

“Raena, it’s the highest honor! These people have the highest status in the Academy!”

“Um…I’m afraid I don’t quite understand.”

“Well, you are sorta new. Here, let me explain. The Blue Dragons are a noble group in which only the most powerful students are members. I’m the first second year to be allowed in their group!”

“I see. Well, what does this group of powerful mages do exactly?”

“Um…well… I don’t really know yet.”

“That’s your problem, Alan. You never think these things through.”

“I DID THIS TIME!”

“What if the status is due to fear? Do you want everyone to fear you?”

“…”

“I didn’t think so.”

A slow clap emanated from the area behind Raena causing her to jump.

“No need to be afraid, love. I am the leader of the Blue Dragons. And you are our newest member,” spoke the black haired, blue eyed male behind her.

Raena glanced up at the 16 year old who towered over her, “Oh, really? I don’t remember agreeing to join any club.” She ignored Alan whose mouth hung wide open.

The stranger chuckled, “I must say, you most certainly have guts. You also have some great potential in the blue green field. We could teach you some of our spells, well, if you join.”

“Hmm…I don’t know…”

“Raena!” Alan exclaimed in shock.

“Very well then, I will join for the sake of my friend,” Raena stated, “but I before I do, I would appreciate it if you told me your name.”

“Josh. That is, Joshua Hemingway,” The man replied with a smirk. “Come to the cafeteria after school. There is much to discuss concerning the operations of our little club.”

To be continued…

Crane and Crew

"You are not really dying, are you?" Samuel asked, paying no attention to Crane.

"I don't know about it being serious." Feather said.

"Death is always serious!" Samuel said.

"I never said I was going to die. I am presumably going to leave off being Feather, but I shall go on being something. Another animal, I suppose. You see, when one hasn't been very good in the life one has just lived, one reincarnates in some lower organism. And I haven't been very good, when one comes to think of it. I've been silly and stupid and immature and all that sort of thing when circumstances have seemed to warrant it."

"Circumstances never warrant that sort of thing." Samuel hastily said.

"If you don't mind my saying so," Feather observed, "Egbert is a circumstance that would warrant any amount of that sort of thing. He's your dad--that's different; you're bound by a love stronger then a friendship, even a marriage. You could fight, and the next day, it's all well. I'm an orphan."

"I don't see what's wrong with Egbert!" Samuel protested.

"Oh, the wrongness has been on my part," Feather admitted dispassionately. "Egbert has merely been the extenuating circumstance. He made a peevish kind of fuss, for instance, when I took the collie puppies from the farm out for a run when I first met him. They chased his young broods of speckled Sussex, running all over the flower beds. You know how devoted he is to his poultry and garden."

"And we thought it was an accident!" Samuel exclaimed.

"You see," Feather resumed. "I really have some grounds for supposing that my next incarnation will be in a lower organism. I shall be an animal like I am now, but a normal one, of some kind. I think I may count on being a nice animal, something elegant and lively, with a love of fun. An otter, perhaps."

"I can't imagine you as an otter." Samuel said.

"Well, I don't suppose you can imagine me as an angel, if it comes to that." Feather said.

Samuel was silent. He couldn't. He couldn't imagine anyone that way.

"Personally I think an otter life would be rather enjoyable." Feather continued. "Salmon to eat all the year round."

"Think of the otter hounds!" Samuel exclaimed. "How dreadful to be hunted and harried and finally worried to death!"

"Rather fun with half the neighborhood looking on, and anyhow better than now, lying on the ground, dying. If I had been a moderately good otter I suppose I should get back into a mythical orangutan form, I should think."

"I wish you would be serious." Samuel sighed. "You really ought to be if you're not going survive the journey to town."

And that is when Feather died. That moment. Samuel said nothing, paralyzed by grief.

Hours later

"What's this?" Samuel asked.

"My uncle's home town." Crane explained. "You should find life here better after what happened."

Samuel nodded. "Feather had the maddest idea. She had an idea that she was going to be reincarnated as an otter."

"One meets with those ideas of reincarnation so frequently." Crane said. "One can hardly set them down as being mad."

"You think she really might have passed into some other form?" Samuel asked.

"Definitely." Crane said. "And it's best for you to think that."

You could say Samuel had a chance to start fresh in this new town. So did Crane. Somehow, Feather's death freed him. Freed him of Basil. Freed him of his voice. Freed him of who he didn't want to be. Freed him of his past. Freed him completely.

Freed him.

Raena, 2 years ago

“You must be mad!” Raena exclaimed in shock. “This plan is a setup for failure!”

“Raena, love, this is our chance to show our true power. By the end of today, all will know our names!” Josh exclaimed.

“Raena is right,” began a red-blue mage by the name of Andrea. “This is essentially a suicide mission!”

“Consider the glory! The power!” a blue-black mage exclaimed from the corner.

“What glory? We’ll all be dead!” exclaimed a blue-white mage from his perch on a desk.

“Come now! Have heart! If we are able to do this, we will be recognized throughout Yezin!”

Raena crossed her arms as she glared at the fearless pure-blue that was the leader of the group. “So, let me get this straight. You want to take over the school and kill Lord Senlevon?”

“…That’s the basics of it, yes.”

“I’m out,” The blue-white mage stood up to leave.

“Cody, you are making a mistake,” began Josh.

“No. I refuse to be apart of this.”

“If he’s leaving, so am I!” Andrea exclaimed passionately.

“Ann…Very well then. I expect to never see your faces again. Anyone else care to leave?”

Silently, two other mages left the room. Josh surveyed the meager number of mages that remained, mentally taking note of each one. Talbinlen, blue-black. Maria, blue-black-white. Darthemius, blue-black-red. His eyes rested on the final remaining mage at which they widened in surprise. …Raena, blue-green.

An explosion shattered the silence of the noble’s study, as Lord Senlevon countered Darthemius’s shower of lightning.

“I’ve been expecting you.”

“Darth, Duck!” Maria shouted as she cast her specialized spell Orderly Chaos. All objects and furniture in the room flew towards the powerful lord with but one objective: Destroy Lord Yori Senlevon.

Senlevon deflected each item with ease. “Maria, you really need to use different spells. If you use the same spell each time you attack someone you become highly predictable.”

“Cut her some slack, she is only a distraction after all,” hissed a voice behind him. Senlevon’s quick attack spell was cut short as his arms were quickly bound behind his back and a spell dampener was cast. “Raena, now!”

Raena slowly emerged from the shadows. She took in the room before letting her eyes rest on Josh. A sigh came from the girl as she mentally prepared a spell. “I’m sorry, Josh.”

Josh’s eyebrows raised, “What do you-?” He cut short as vines wrapped around him pulling him up into the air. His concentration broken, the spell damper he had previously cast dissolved. Senlevon uttered a single word and his bonds fell away. Raena quickly countered an attack from Maria as Senlevon disposed of Darth. In the end they both stood before the leader of the Blue Dragons.

“Damn you,” Josh said with a smile. “I should’ve known you were up to something, Raena. You will regret this.”

Raena raised a single eyebrow, “How so?”

A devious smile played across the defeated man’s lips. “Heimgesucht.” Before the two victors could react, Josh had vanished into thin air.

Senlevon let out a sigh, “We’ll worry about him later. Thank you for the warning.”

“Well, I couldn’t just let them kill you while I stood idly by,” the girl responded quietly. “After all, my father has supported you for years.”

“We’ll find him wherever he is. I can assure you. For now, go home where you’ll be safe. I will send my butler with you for protection.”

“Thanks,” Raena replied as she took her leave of the battlefield.

Now

Raena knocked slowly on the door to Lord Senlevon’s office. Tal was right to say Josh would haunt me. Though, I’m sure he didn’t mean it in this way.
